Quote #1: I'm so empty now and hungry I want to go mad with myself and have a feast at the Horn & Hardart Automate but I don't want to be seen there for fear of people might think I'm like the ones who sit there half the day with a cup of coffee, an old newspaper and nowhere to go.
Significance: It's like Frank wants to eat and have a meal like everyone else, which is hard for him to have unfortunately, but he doesn't want people to think he is some kind of lazy wealthy person and that is significant because it shows that he wants people to see him as a hard working poorer man and he probably wants people to look up to him or feel sorry for him. Maybe.
Response: Sometimes I feel that way to. For example: If I was doing communities work to stay alive and across the street I see a bundle of teens my age swimming in a pool, I would want the to feel sorry for me or maybe I would want them to invite me over for a swim.
Question: Do you think that he thinks Limerick and New Yorks faults are just about the same?
Quote #2: How could I ever write m mother or anyone in Limerick and tell them the way I'm livinng in this rich land with two dollars to last me for a week...
Significance: As the quote continues, Frank basically talks about how horrible America really is..
Response: I felt sorry for him.
Question: Can he get out of this loopwhole where he is poor?

Quote #1: I agree with you, Bethany. I feel that Frank wants people to feel bad for him, maybe to possibly give him some money, but then again people are very mean in New York. I too, would want people to feel sorry for me because I'm not that fortunate as them.
Question #1: I don't think so. New York is a progressing city, when Ireland is a very poor country...at the time.
Quote #2: I wouldn't go to a "great country," and find out that is stinks, then write to my parents that it was a waste of time either. I would pretend that it was fantastic, or make the most out of it.
Question #2: I think that he may never get in the rich world unless a miracle (like starting a million dollar business) because he is an immigrant and people are very racist towards Irish people.
Quote #1: I think that the main character should not think what other people think of him and that he should just live his life.
Question #1: I dont think so because New York is wealthy and limerick was poor at the time.
Quote #2: Yah i feel sorry because he cant tell his parents the truth about America because he is struggling in America and he does not whant to tell his parents that.
Question #2: I think that he will get out of this struggle and live a better life.
quote#1: i agree with what you said becuase i think it must be hard for him and he must act that way even if he doesn't like it.
Question#1: i don't think they are the same he thinks that thy are but he will soon find out the hard way.
quote#2: it must be hard to be in his life.
question#2: i have no idea if he can on one wat to find out.
