Quote #1: “Mam makes the tea and it's good to see she has decent cups and saucers now not like the old days when we drank from jam jars.”
Significance: This quote is significant because, Frank is obviously used to seeing people from Limerick, drinking out of jam jars and placing there foods on old rags and such. It's like he has hope, and is always shocked to find people who are different then him.
Response: Maybe Frank was a little worried that Mam appears to be like the people in Limerick, but he is reminded that not all people do the same things or have the same things.
Question: I wonder if he is ever going to get over the fact that everyone is the same but different at the same time. Can he understand?
Quote #2: “In America a torch is called a flashlight. A biscuit is called a cookie, a bun is a roll....Men wear pants instead of trousers and they'll even say this pant leg is shorter than the other which is silly.”
Significance: This quote is important because he is still in awe about things that he did not think could have existed and is still wondering if it is necessary that it should exist.
Response: I think that this quote is telling us that Frank is saying that flashlights and torches are basically the same thing. I think that he is still learning new things about America very slowly, whether it was good or bad.
Questions: How long will it take for him to start understanding things a bit better?

Quote #1: I agree with that. Everyone in America is not like everyone in Limerick. I would feel the same when I am used to seeing poverty and suddenly see prosperity.
Question #1: I'm not sure if he understands that. He like many others are realizing the similarities and differences in this country.
Quote #2: I'm not sure what you mean in the significance, but I do agree with him saying that flashlights and torches being the same thing.
Question #2: It will probably take him a couple months. It took me a couple months to get used to HTM.
Quote #1: When I read this quote it showed me how he used to live and how people over here live and how people over in America have more oppertunities to get jobs and get a lot of money.
Question #1: I also think that he does not understand because he cant see the similarities of his home country.
Quote #2: This quote showes how his country and America is different in language because America names thing different then things that he is use too calling things.
Question #2: I think it will take a while because he has to get use to how they do things in America and speak.
